As part of my Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 journey, I had the opportunity to explore a beautifully serene corner of France — a short but unforgettable visit that brought a sense of peace and wonder. After arriving at Basel Airport, I traveled to Colmar via Mulhouse, both nestled in the scenic Alsace region of eastern France.
The highlight of my visit was exploring La Petite Venise (Mini Venice) — a stunning, postcard-perfect part of Colmar, where narrow canals wind between pastel-colored houses, flower-filled balconies, and charming bridges. It truly felt like stepping into a painting. The reflections on the calm water, the quiet atmosphere, and the timeless beauty of this historic district made it one of the most peaceful and photogenic moments of my trip.
Even in a brief stay, Colmar left a lasting impression with its blend of French elegance and German influence, showcased in its architecture, language, and cuisine. Passing through Mulhouse on the way offered a glimpse of a more urban and industrial French experience — contrasting yet complementary.
From Colmar, I returned to Basel, and then continued my journey to Zurich, Switzerland, where I joyfully celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr. The spiritual warmth of Eid, surrounded by diverse communities and stunning landscapes, was the perfect culmination of this enriching trip.
This French interlude — especially my visit to Mini Venice — was a moment of serenity and beauty before the festivities. It reminded me of the richness of cultural travel, where even a brief detour can bring unforgettable memories.
